Following his election in November, Pete Ricketts has been sworn in as the U.S. Senator for Nebraska. The ceremony took place yesterday, marking the beginning of his two-year term to complete the tenure left vacant by Ben Sasse’s departure in 2023.

Ricketts expressed his dedication to his new role, stating, “I am humbled by the responsibility of representing the great people of Nebraska in the U.S. Senate. I am committed to continuing my work of bringing proven Nebraska solutions to Washington, making government work better, and keeping Americans safe.”

Accompanying him at the swearing-in were his wife Susanne Shore and father Joe Ricketts. Initially appointed by Governor Jim Pillen, Ricketts will serve until 2026 when he will need to seek re-election for a full six-year term.

A video capturing both the formal swearing-in on the Senate Floor and a re-enactment in the Old Senate Chamber is available for public viewing.
