U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts (R-NE), a member of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, has introduced a bipartisan resolution to designate May 2025 as Renewable Fuels Month in the United States. Senator Ricketts, known for his advocacy of renewable fuels, emphasized the benefits these fuels bring to both Nebraska and the nation.

“Renewable fuels like ethanol and biodiesel are a win for Nebraska and a win for America,” stated Ricketts. He highlighted the economic savings for consumers, support for Nebraska agriculture, environmental protection, and the promotion of energy independence. Ricketts expressed gratitude for bipartisan backing of the resolution and urged Americans to opt for renewable fuels.

Senator Deb Fischer also praised renewable fuels, noting their role in expanding markets for Nebraska farmers and reducing fuel pump prices, contributing to America’s energy independence. She extended her thanks to Ricketts for leading the resolution.

Senator Chuck Grassley remarked on the significance of biofuels under President Trump’s administration, citing America’s goal of becoming energy dominant. “Our resolution recognizes the power of renewable fuels and outlines the great advantages they bring to the table,” he said, mentioning the economic benefits for rural communities.

Senator Roger Marshall expressed his support for the designation, stating that, “By supporting homegrown energy sources like ethanol and biodiesel, we are creating stronger markets for Kansas farmers, cleaner air for our communities, and a more secure future for our state and nation.”

Senator Joni Ernst reiterated the importance of renewable fuels in advancing America’s energy independence and praised the producers who supply homegrown Iowa fuel. “I’m proud to support this resolution to designate May as ‘Renewable Fuels Month’,” she stated.

In the U.S. House of Representatives, Rep. Nunn leads companion legislation, recognizing May as Renewable Fuels Month. “Recognizing May as Renewable Fuels Month highlights how renewable biofuels are powering America’s energy growth,” he said.

Dawn Caldwell, Executive Director of Renewable Fuels Nebraska, acknowledged the role of Nebraska’s agricultural community in providing clean, homegrown energy, and thanked Senator Ricketts for his leadership. “His resolution shines a well-deserved spotlight on the men and women who fuel the Good Life and beyond,” Caldwell stated.

The resolution is co-sponsored by U.S. Senators Tina Smith (D-MN), Chuck Grassley (R-IA), Joni Ernst (R-IA), Deb Fischer (R-NE), Roger Marshall (R-KS), and Jerry Moran (R-KS).

The resolution text is available for review.
