Senator Pete Ricketts, representing Nebraska in the U.S. Senate, has recently made several public statements on social media regarding internship opportunities, Senate proceedings, and legislative efforts targeting Chinese arms exports.

On August 1, 2025, Senator Ricketts announced opportunities for internships in his offices. He wrote, “If you’re interested in an internship in one of my offices in Washington D.C. or across Nebraska, visit: https://t.co/E0rpQn5LxX”.

The following day, Ricketts commented on actions by Senate Democrats concerning presidential nominees. In a post dated August 2, 2025, he stated: “Senate Democrats are literally holding the federal government hostage. They are harming the country by refusing to allow any of @POTUS’ nominees through by voice vote or unanimous consent. President Trump is the first president in recorded history to not have a single nominee https://t.co/puCJnsmPxP”.

Later that same day, Ricketts highlighted his recent legislative initiative aimed at curbing purchases of Chinese-made weaponry. He posted: “Recently, I introduced The THINK TWICE Act. It requires a coordinated strategy to dissuade new purchases of Chinese-made weapons.

Beijing would like nothing more than to expand its growth as an arms exporter and increase its global influence. We cannot allow this happen.”

The THINK TWICE Act reflects ongoing concerns among U.S. lawmakers about China’s increasing role as a global arms supplier and its implications for international security and American interests.

Senator Pete Ricketts was elected to the U.S. Senate from Nebraska in 2022 after serving as governor of Nebraska from 2015 to 2023.
