U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts of Nebraska discussed measures the Senate is taking to advance President Donald Trump’s policy goals. In a conference call with Nebraska media, Ricketts emphasized the passage of a budget resolution aimed at supporting the President’s agenda.

“Last week, I voted to pass a budget resolution that helps fulfill President Trump’s promise to deliver prosperity and security,” Ricketts stated, noting that it “unlocks the reconciliation process” and instructs committees to allocate funds and savings. The resolution aims at cutting wasteful spending and persists in fulfilling promises including securing the border, lowering taxes, rebuilding the military, and boosting American energy production.

Ricketts declared that “Americans elected President Trump to secure the border, restore American strength, and unleash American energy.” According to him, the budget resolution represents a “blueprint” supporting these priorities, as it provides frameworks such as critical funding for border security, preventing a tax increase, and improving military readiness.

In the detailed breakdown of the budget resolution, Ricketts mentioned a commitment of $175 billion over four years focused on border security measures, such as finishing the border wall, upgrading technology, and staffing. Furthermore, the resolution proposes steps to protect taxpayers by avoiding a $4 trillion tax increase and maintaining tax cuts.

Additionally, the resolution plans to allocate $150 billion for defense funding to enhance military capacities. It also mandates a Pentagon audit to ensure budget efficiency, echoing that by “restoring American strength, we will keep Americans safe.”

In terms of energy policy, Ricketts criticized President Biden’s regulatory approach, claiming the resolution aims to cut bureaucracy, reverse certain taxes, and resume oil and gas lease sales to reduce family energy costs.

“This resolution is the blueprint to deliver on those priorities,” Ricketts reiterated, highlighting the overarching goal of aiding President Trump in delivering prosperity and safety for Americans.
