U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts (R-NE) outlined his priorities for the 2025 Senate during a conference call with Nebraska media. The senator emphasized the importance of advancing President Trump’s agenda, which includes border security, targeting drug cartels, and confirming nominees.

Ricketts expressed his commitment to reducing energy costs and extending Trump-era tax cuts. He also highlighted the need for a five-year Farm Bill that reflects Nebraska’s interests. “I’m committed to working with President Trump and my colleagues to deliver conservative solutions for Nebraskans,” Ricketts stated.

The senator will continue his roles on the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works and the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations. Additionally, he joins the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, as well as the Senate Committee on the Budget.

Under Majority Leader John Thune’s leadership, Ricketts noted that the Senate plans to increase its session days from previous years. “More days in session will mean more opportunity to deliver President Trump’s agenda,” he said.

Ricketts criticized past administration policies while expressing optimism about current Republican majorities in Congress. He emphasized cutting regulatory red tape and reversing mandates such as those requiring electric vehicle purchases.

In foreign relations, Ricketts aims to restore U.S. strength globally and support allies against adversaries like China. He also intends to ensure Nebraska’s priorities are included in budget discussions and address housing issues within his state.

“I’m excited to bring my business experience to the Budget Committee and Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs,” he added.
