U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts from Nebraska responded to President Trump’s recent address to a Joint Session of Congress, expressing support for the President’s outlined vision and policies. During a conference call with Nebraska media, Ricketts emphasized the significance of Trump’s leadership and the direction he aims to take the country.

“Last night, America heard from a President who got right to the point with the first line of his address: America is back,” stated Ricketts. He highlighted Trump’s commitment to “ushering in a new Golden Age for the United States” and expressed enthusiasm about “the newfound opportunities presented to all Americans because we have President Trump back in office.”

Ricketts detailed several priorities that align with Trump’s agenda, including securing borders, enhancing American energy independence, and strengthening national defense. He noted, “Americans elected President Trump to secure the border, unleash American energy, and restore American strength.”

The senator praised Trump’s efforts in reducing illegal border crossings and advocated for providing more resources to Border Patrol agents. He also stressed the importance of codifying these policies into federal law.

On energy policy, Ricketts emphasized leveraging America’s natural resources by reducing regulatory barriers. “By cutting red tape and streamlining processes, we can unleash those resources,” he said.

Addressing government efficiency, Ricketts referenced initiatives by DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency) aimed at eliminating wasteful spending. He cited examples such as unused software licenses and inaccuracies in Social Security rolls.

Ricketts reiterated his support for extending Trump’s tax cuts which he believes have benefitted American families. He expressed his intent to work towards making these cuts permanent.

In foreign policy matters, Ricketts contrasted current approaches with past administrations. “Biden’s appeasement-first policy led to new conflicts,” he remarked while commending Trump’s leadership for moving towards global peace.

Ricketts concluded by affirming his dedication to supporting President Trump’s objectives across various committees on which he serves.
