Now that the 4th of July has passed

Now that the 4th of July has passed, all three Fire Chiefs in Morrill County have agreed to a total burn ban in each of their respective districts for the time being.

This decision was reached after weighing several considerations, including expected high temperatures being at or close to 100 degrees; drought like conditions that have persisted yearly; availability of resources, especially manpower; escalating cost of fuel and repairs; and aggressive fire behavior seen not only recently nearby, but also for the past two summers. The majority of  local ag producers and irrigation entities have completed clearing canals, and we foresee little need for controlled burning at this time. If you have questions or concerns, please contact an officer of your local fire department.
