Sioux County Sheriff’s Office back to school tip:
With schools starting, many parents like to post their child’s pictures on social media with a lot of personal information; that seems innocent enough, but for predators and scammers, it can give a wealth of information they can use.
Those photos, often with the child holding a sign, gives information such as the child’s name, age, school name and other identifying features. Please remember that the information you put out can be used by the wrong people looking to endanger your child, your family and/or your finances.
Finally, remember that no matter what your privacy settings are, it’s best to keep personal information to a minimum on social media.
