January is Cervical Cancer Awareness month!  We want to raise awareness about cervical cancer, prevention, and HPV vaccination.  Currently, 13,000 women in America have cervical cancer. Millions more have the Human Papillomavirus (HPV), which is the most common cause of cervical cancer. This virus can be spread through sexual activity. Since many who are infected never exhibit any symptoms, it can be easily spread without realizing. This is why getting the HPV vaccine, and regular screenings are so important.  Western Community Health Resources  is providing immunization against HPV. Youth and adolescents are especially encouraged to receive the Gardasil 9 vaccine to protect against cancer and build immune strength over time.  Gardasil 9 is routinely recommended for adolescents at 11 or 12 years of age to ensure protection before exposure to the virus. HPV vaccine may be given beginning at age 9 and recommended for everyone through age 26.  Contact WCHR today to schedule your appointment, or ask any questions you might have (308) 432-8979.
