U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts (R-NE), a senior member of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, expressed criticism toward Senate Democrats after they blocked bipartisan legislation concerning sanctions against the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Senator Ricketts stated, “The ICC is a lawless, politicized body that threatens our sovereignty, our servicemembers, and our allies. It is investigating American troops. It’s taken illegitimate action against Israel." He emphasized that the proposed bill "would have sent a strong response to this rogue international body." The bill had previously passed the House twice with significant bipartisan support.

Ricketts concluded by saying, "In blocking this bill, Senate Democrats chose political games over supporting the women and men who defend our country.”
