U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts (R-NE), a member of the Senate Budget Committee, expressed support for a budget resolution that aims to fund President Trump's priorities. Speaking during a conference call with Nebraska media, Ricketts highlighted the significance of the resolution in advancing key aspects of Trump's agenda.
"Last week, my Senate Budget Committee colleagues and I advanced a budget reconciliation resolution that will lay the groundwork to fund President Trump’s priorities," said Ricketts. "This week, the plan is to pass it on the Senate floor."
Ricketts emphasized that the budget resolution is crucial for providing President Trump with necessary resources to ensure security and prosperity for Americans. He stated, "It instructs committees of jurisdiction to execute on President Trump’s agenda."
The proposed budget includes provisions for border security, allocating approximately $175 billion to complete the border wall and enhance border technology. It also plans to increase detention beds and expand personnel such as ICE officers and Border Patrol agents.
In addition to border security, Ricketts noted that revitalizing the military is another priority within this budget framework. The proposal suggests an allocation of roughly $150 billion for improving military readiness and modernizing nuclear capabilities.
Energy production is also addressed in this resolution. The framework intends to block certain taxes imposed by the Biden administration while promoting development in natural resources through new oil and gas lease sales.
Ricketts concluded by underscoring his commitment to swiftly passing this resolution: "I look forward to passing it quickly to help deliver results for Nebraskans and the American people."
