U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts, representing Nebraska and a member of the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee, has voted to advance the GENIUS Act from committee. This stablecoin legislation aims to bolster the U.S. dollar's position while ensuring consumer protection and fostering innovation.
Ricketts expressed his support for the bill, stating: “The GENIUS Act is landmark legislation. It is a one-of-a-kind bill that will advance the standing of the U.S. dollar. It will protect consumers while promoting innovation and opportunity. And it will protect our national security interests from foreign adversaries.” He also highlighted the bipartisan nature of the effort: “Furthermore, this bill is the product of bipartisan cooperation. America must lead on this issue, and I’m glad both Republicans and Democrats voted to advance this bill out of committee.”
During his tenure as Governor of Nebraska, Ricketts enacted Nebraska’s Financial Innovation Act, which positioned Nebraska as one of the first states to implement a regulatory framework for digital assets at the state level.
