U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts of Nebraska, who is part of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, expressed approval of the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) decision to issue an emergency fuel waiver allowing the sale of E15 during the summer. Ricketts stated, "E15 saves consumers money at the pump, supports Nebraska agriculture, cleans our environment, and promotes energy independence. Expanding access to E15 use will help President Trump deliver on his promise to unleash American energy. The next step is a permanent fix. Let’s pass Senator Fischer’s Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act and make year-round nationwide E15 permanent."
Ricketts, in his capacity as Governor of Nebraska, had previously urged the EPA to permit the year-round sale of E-15. As a Senator, he is a co-sponsor of the Consumer Fuel and Retailer Choice Act, aimed at making this policy permanent. Ricketts emphasizes the advantages of ethanol and renewable fuels, leveraging his role on the Environment and Public Works Committee, which supervises the EPA. Furthermore, he collaborates with Senator Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota on the Flex Fuel Fairness Act to support vehicles using higher ethanol blends.
