Senator Pete Ricketts has highlighted legislative efforts aimed at improving care for veterans and providing financial aid relief to farm families in Nebraska. In a series of posts dated July 23, 2025, Ricketts discussed the importance of accessible medical records for veterans and celebrated reforms to federal student aid calculations.

On July 23, 2025, Ricketts posted: "Our veterans deserve our utmost respect and gratitude. In order to ensure our veterans receive the best standard of care, it is important that their medical history is shared and available for VA medical centers following care in the community. This bill will help establish https://t.co/4GjoSkz8VK".

Later that day, he added: "Learn more about this once in a generation reform here:

In another post from July 23, 2025, Ricketts wrote: "A big win for farm families—the OBBB eliminates FAFSA restrictions that penalize farm kids across Nebraska seeking financial aid for higher education. The bill provides exemptions for agriculture-related assets from FAFSA calculations.

This is just one example of how the OBBB is".

The referenced changes to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) are designed to address concerns raised by rural communities. Previously, family-owned agricultural assets could be counted against students when determining eligibility for federal student aid, a point of contention among farming advocates who argued that such rules unfairly disadvantaged children from farm families. The proposed legislation seeks to exempt these assets from FAFSA calculations, aiming to increase access to higher education funding among rural students.

Senator Pete Ricketts represents Nebraska in the United States Senate and has been active on issues affecting both veterans and agricultural communities in his state.
