Senator Pete Ricketts, representing Nebraska in the U.S. Senate, addressed a range of policy and community issues through his social media posts in late September 2025.
On September 23, Ricketts emphasized support for senior citizens and Social Security in Nebraska. In a post, he wrote, "Our seniors contributed to our state and country for decades. They should be able to live the Good Life and enjoy their retirement. By boosting retirement income and improving customer service, we’re protecting Social Security. We’re protecting the Good Life. It’s the right" (September 23, 2025).
The following day, Ricketts criticized Democratic leadership over federal government funding negotiations. He stated, ".@SenSchumer said it last year: a government shutdown would be harmful and unnecessary. Yet Chuck Schumer and @SenateDems want to hold the nation hostage and shutdown the federal government for political points. The @SenateGOP is fighting to make government work." (September 24, 2025).
Later on September 24, Ricketts highlighted a meeting with Richard Webb of the Boys & Girls Club of the Midlands, noting its importance for youth development. He posted, "Great to meet with Richard Webb, the President and CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of the Midlands. We discussed academic recovery and success of students following out-of-school time like summer break. The Boys & Girls Club is crucial to the success of our nation’s young people." (September 24, 2025).
Ricketts has previously advocated for policies aimed at supporting seniors’ financial security through adjustments to retirement benefits and improvements in government services.
Debates about federal budget negotiations have been prominent in recent years as both parties seek agreement on spending measures that prevent government shutdowns.
Organizations such as the Boys & Girls Club play a recognized role nationwide in supporting educational outcomes for children during periods when school is not in session.
