On October 3, 2025, Senator Ricketts criticized Senate Democrats for their actions concerning a continuing resolution (CR), stating: ".@SenateDems voted to approve this clean CR 4 times in the last 18 months. Now, to appease far-left activists, they’ve chosen a shutdown. Senate Democrats are hypocrites."
Later that same day, he addressed his remarks on the Senate floor and shared them online: "I spoke on Senate Floor to call out the hypocrisy of Chuck Schumer and @SenateDems. End the Schumer Shutdown!"
The following day, Senator Ricketts shifted focus from legislative matters to college football: "Another great matchup for the Huskers today! Looking forward to watching us beat Michigan State. GO BIG RED!"
