Senator Pete Ricketts, representing Nebraska in the U.S. Senate, recently addressed multiple issues through a series of posts on his social media account. His comments ranged from foreign policy and domestic government operations to local sports.
On October 10, 2025, Senator Ricketts discussed legislative efforts aimed at countering actions by China against Taiwan. He stated, "On @SenateForeign, @ChrisCoons and I are working to counter Communist China’s illegal, coercive, aggressive, and deceptive actions targeting Taiwan. Our bill, the Taiwan Energy Security and Anti-Embargo Act, will help address Taiwan’s Achilles’ heel and strengthen its energy" (October 10, 2025).
Later that day, Ricketts commented on ongoing government funding disputes in Washington. He posted on October 10: "America is in the 10th day of the Schumer Shutdown. Government services have diminished or stopped. Democrats are threatening to slash the $50 billion rural healthcare fund. Veterans can’t file new claims. This is what a Schumer Shutdown looks like."
On October 11, Ricketts turned his attention to sports with a post celebrating Nebraska football: "It’s a great day for Cornhusker football! Looking forward to watching us beat Maryland. GO BIG RED!" (October 11, 2025).
Senator Pete Ricketts has served as Nebraska's junior senator since January 2023 after previously holding office as governor of Nebraska from 2015 to 2023.
