U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts (R-NE) has been recognized as a 2024 “Guardian of Small Business” by the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB). This award acknowledges lawmakers who have shown support for small business owners through legislative action and leadership.
“Small businesses are critical to the economic vitality of communities across Nebraska,” Ricketts stated. “I will always fight to protect rural Main Street, Nebraska’s other small businesses, and all small business workers.”
NFIB President Brad Close explained the criteria for the award: “The NFIB Guardian of Small Business Award is presented to Senators with a demonstrated record of supporting America’s small and independent business owners.” He added, “This Congress, small businesses faced tough economic headwinds, especially from inflation, labor shortages, and tax pressures at all levels of the government. We are proud to recognize Senators from the 118th Congress who stood up for Main Street by taking pro-small business votes that would reduce taxes, eliminate burdensome government mandates, lower health insurance costs, and fuel the Main Street economy.”
