U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts has announced his subcommittee assignments for the 119th Congress. Ricketts, a Republican from Nebraska, shared his focus areas in light of President Trump's re-election.
“President Trump’s re-election provides a historic opportunity to get our country back on track,” said Ricketts. “On these subcommittees, I’ll work to unleash American energy, extend the Trump tax cuts, and restore American strength on the world stage.”
Ricketts will serve on several key committees: Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs; Environment and Public Works; and Foreign Affairs.
The U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs deals with issues related to banks and banking, price controls, deposit insurance, foreign trade promotion, export promotion and controls, as well as federal monetary policy. It oversees financial exchanges and markets along with public housing and urban development.
The U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works focuses on legislation concerning environmental protection and resource conservation. This includes oversight of agencies such as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
The U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations plays a crucial role in shaping U.S. foreign policy by considering treaties and legislation involving foreign aid to arms sales. The committee also oversees diplomatic nominations including that of the U.S. Secretary of State.
Ricketts will hold the position of second highest ranking Republican within this committee structure.
